Onward

Privacy Policy

Effective 7 September 2026. Onward is an invitation-only iOS productivity app for starting tasks, organizing thoughts, and staying focused. It is not a commercial product, has no advertising, and is not funded by data.

What we collect

• Account email, account ID, and password. Used to sign you in and associate your content with your account. Passwords are stored hashed by our authentication provider (Supabase); we never see them.
• Content you enter. Tasks, notes, brain-dump text, interests, focus sessions and timers. Stored so the app can show them back to you, on every device you sign in on. We also store generation requests and results, session activity, and task durations to provide features, enforce usage limits, and improve your time estimates.
• A push notification token, if you turn on focus-mode check-ins. Used only to deliver those check-ins to your device.

There is no advertising identifier, no location collection, no contacts access, and no analytics SDK.

How content is processed

AI suggestions — including task breakdown, thought organization, context-switch rituals, quests, and activity remixes — send relevant text and task context through our server to Anthropic. AI focus check-ins may share the task text and previous check-in messages while the session runs, including in the background. Avoid entering content you do not want processed by these providers.

The App Store release asks permission before your first AI use and remembers your choice for your account, including across devices. We store your choice, the disclosure version, and when it was updated. You can enable or turn off AI sharing in Settings. Turning it off stops future AI requests and changes active focus sessions to standard check-ins; requests already sent cannot be recalled. Ending a session stops future check-ins. Without permission, focus sessions use standard check-ins. Timers and the built-in activity menu do not require AI. We ask again if the AI provider or sharing scope changes. Anthropic processes API data under its own privacy and retention policies.

What we don’t do

• No advertising, no analytics SDKs, no tracking across apps or websites, and no data broker relationships.
• No sale of personal data or sharing for advertising. The service providers involved are the infrastructure named here: Supabase (database and authentication), Anthropic (language model), Expo (push service), and Apple (push notification delivery).
• No behavioural data is shared with advertisers or data brokers.

Retention and deletion

Your content is kept for as long as your account exists. You can permanently delete your account and all associated data at any time from the app: Settings → Delete account. Deletion is irreversible, and removes your account record, tasks, notes, sessions, and scheduled notifications. You may also email us and we will do it for you. Provider backups and operational logs may remain under their retention policies; deleting your account cannot recall content already processed by a provider or delivered as a notification.

Children

Onward is not directed at children and accounts are issued only to adults.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that affects what is collected or who it is shared with, the effective date above will change and account holders will be told by email.
